Programs That Connect, Inform and Inspire.
Connecting voices. Expanding knowledge. Building inclusion.

For more than 15 years, the Atlanta Autism Consortium (AAC) has brought together families, autistic individuals, educators, clinicians, researchers, and advocates through free, evidence-based programs that break down barriers to understanding and access.
How It Began
Founded by Dr. Gregory Abowd in 2008, AAC began as a small group of researchers sharing ideas across institutions. It quickly grew into a trusted, inclusive community hub — one that now reaches more than 3,000 people each year through accessible, high-quality programming and resources.

What We Believe
AAC’s programs are built on a simple promise: everyone deserves access to trusted information, expert insights, and meaningful connection — regardless of cost or location.
How We Make a Difference
Each event is designed to unite lived experience with professional expertise, sparking conversations that move our community forward.

Programs in Action: 2025 Highlights
Each year, AAC curates a dynamic lineup of programs that address the evolving needs of the autism community. Our 2025 program series features diverse topics designed to educate, empower, and connect. Every program is free, evidence-based, and available to watch on demand.

Being Online and Being OK: Teens and Young Adults with ASD
This presentation offered parents and young people practical, accessible advice about healthy online habits. A panel of experts with decades of clinical experience discussed safe and successful digital navigation for teens and young adults.

Understanding Individualized Education (IEP) and 504 Plans
This presentation clarified the differences between Section 504 plans and IEPs, covering eligibility, available services, and practical advocacy strategies tailored to autism-specific needs.

LGBTQIA+ and Autism
Research indicates that individuals from gender-diverse backgrounds experience higher rates of autism than the general population. This panel explored that intersection from clinical, research, and lived-experience perspectives.

Supporting Individuals with Profound Autism and Their Families
This program explored the challenges faced by individuals requiring lifetime, 24/7 care, and the families who support them. Panelists discussed research findings, gaps in home and community-based services, and actionable ways to improve access and advocacy.
What’s Next for the AAC
The AAC continues to evolve, expanding access to information and fostering collaboration across the autism community. Our goals for the coming year include:
Growing our YouTube resource library to make every AAC program accessible on demand.
Expanding our virtual programming to reach even more individuals and families nationwide.
Developing new initiatives that amplify autistic voices and encourage collaboration.
The Heart of the AAC
Our Program Promise
At AAC, we believe progress begins with connection. Every program we host, every recording we share, and every story we amplify brings us closer to a world where autistic individuals and their families are supported, valued, and celebrated.
Together, we’re keeping Gregory’s Promise—and building a future rooted in understanding, acceptance, and inclusion.
