Resignation of Dr. Gregory Abowd as Chairman
It is with both sadness and gratitude that we share Dr. Gregory Abowd has announced his resignation as President and Board Chair of the Atlanta Autism Consortium. Gregory will be leaving Atlanta, and as of March 1, 2021 will be the new Dean of Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston.
As founder of the Atlanta Autism Consortium, Dr. Abowd was instrumental not only in the creation of our organization, but in so much of the work, collaboration and journey of the Atlanta autism community. During his tenure, the AAC has grown to be known as a respected leader in the nonprofit community and an instrumental part of furthering the research, advocacy and educational opportunities for families and individuals on the autism spectrum here in Atlanta. We are grateful for everything he has done not only for our organization, but also for our community.
Dr. Abowd will continue to support the AAC in an advisory role, and the Board looks forward to announcing a new leader soon. During this time of transition, we are appreciative of your continued support of our mission and programs.
While goodbyes are always hard, we are so happy for Dr. Abowd and his family in this new chapter. Please join us in thanking Gregory for his dedication to the Atlanta autism community and in wishing him so much success in Boston!
