ByAtlanta Autism Consortium Hours May 23, 2016January 13, 2025

Parent or Caregiver: participate in an innovative research study called “Educational Experiences of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders” conducted by Christina Simmons under the direction of Dr. Scott Ardoin at the University of Georgia. Study purpose: to identify and describe the reasons parents choose to homeschool children with ASD and explore the educational choices, experiences, concerns, and resources of parents of children with ASD whose children attend tradition school. Goals: to get a greater understanding of the needs within the education system and within parents’ current homeschool programming that may allow educators and professionals to target services more appropriately to students’ needs.

You may participate if you are a parent of a child between 6 and 18 y with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (e.g., autism, Asperger’s, etc.) who currently lives at home and attends traditional school (e.g., public school, private school, parochial school, etc.) or is homeschooled.  If your child attends traditional school: CLICK HERE TO TAKE A SURVEY,  OR If your child is homeschooled:  CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE SURVEY. The survey takes about 15 minutes and you will receive a $5 check for your participation. A paper version is available if preferred.   Please contact Christina Simmons, M.A., BCBA; Doctoral Candidate Educational psychology; University of Georgia, at simmons@uga.edu or (973) 960-0926 for questions.   Thank you.   Christina A. Simmons,.
