ITASD 2014 conference in Paris

ByAtlanta Autism Consortium Hours October 22, 2014January 13, 2025

In September 2014, the second Innovative Technologies for ASD conference was hosted in Paris, France. This conference has been sponsored by the Orange Foundation and Autism Speaks and attempts to connect researchers who develop and evaluate technologies to educators, clinicians and families dealing with autism. This year’s conference had additional sponsorship from the Adapta Foundation and the Pasteur Institute (host for the event). Over 500 attendees were present for a collection of very interesting talks. The first version of this talk was in 2012, and our very own Ami Klin was one of the invited keynote speakers. Europe has a very active community of developers and researchers in the autism and technology space. At this year’s meeting, one of the biggest changes that was noticed is a collection of aggregator sites that allow an individual to search and find apps or web services related to autism. Here is a list of those services:

  • Applications Autisme (http://applications-autisme.com/, French)
  • appyautism.com (Spanish and English)
  • DART apps reviews (http://www.dart.ed.ac.uk/asdtech/app-reviews/)
  • Autism Speaks Autism apps review (http://www.autismspeaks.org/autism-apps)
  • Wynsum arts (local Atlanta startup for iOS, http://wynsumarts.com/)

Some of these services try to provide information on the amount of evidence underlying the intervention.

You can find out more about the conference at http://www.itasd.org/?lang=en. This website also hosts recordings of the talks given at the conference
