The Atlanta Autism Consortium is searching for a Part-Time Communications & Development Associate
Job Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Development Associate will implement digital marketing strategies and support to build the Atlanta Autism Consortium’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. In particular, they will support all marketing, communications and fundraising efforts of the Atlanta Autism Consortium (AAC), including: creating and curating the AAC’s social media channels, newsletters and email database; gift entry and fundraising support for prospective foundations, corporations, and individual donors; and general marketing and administrative support.
An ideal candidate would have proven experience and success in building and maintaining an engaged social media audience for businesses and/or nonprofit organizations; is comfortable and confident working with digital newsletter platforms and design software; and is passionate about autism. They should possess strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently. This remote position with flexible hours is well suited for someone who is a quick learner and is capable of balancing multiple types of projects at time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in executing the organization’s overall marketing efforts.
- Work alongside the AAC team to create, curate and manage highly engaging organic content in multiple formats to reach the AAC’s targeted audiences, increasing followers, likes, and engagement on multiple social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, newsletters and blogs.
- Supports the AAC team with all web-related project planning and development including but not limited to social media strategy and implementation.
- Maintains and updates website content in collaboration with vendors and applicable internal teams.
- Ensures that digital communications are effective in reaching the appropriate audiences and align with the AAC’s branding and messaging standards.
- Creates marketing assets for programs and events such as flyers, graphics, slides, etc.
- Leads the development, editing, and dissemination of the organizations e-newsletters, including event emails and special announcements
- Writes and edits content for various platforms including emails, social, media, websites, etc.
- Supports giving campaigns and special events, including conducting grant, sponsorship, donor and organization research as needed.
- Administrative duties to include management of donor database and assistance with processing donations and data entry, mailings and stewardship projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Enthusiastic team player and self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Strong creative content creation skills; detail and deadline oriented and comfortable performing multi-faceted projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
- Design or marketing experience, including the ability to use design software like Canva, is required.
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Office products particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint; web publishing and digital newsletter experience required.
- Professional manner in dealing with media, volunteers, corporate sponsors and vendors.
- Integrity in dealing with confidential donor and volunteer information.
- Experience with events, fundraising and volunteer management is a plus.
- Social media management and campaign experience required.
- High energy and passion for the AAC’s mission and goals is essential.
- Two years of experience in a related role preferred.
About the Atlanta Autism Consortium:
The Atlanta Autism Consortium’s mission is to foster better understanding and cultivate multifaceted collaborations among the wide variety of autism community stakeholders in the greater Atlanta area, including researchers, clinicians, educators, advocates, families and individuals with autism.
We provide monthly free programs, resources, education and events to the Atlanta autism community. We work hard to offer a diverse program calendar, with a wide range of topics led by experts in the fields of research, treatments, therapies and education.
Terms and Conditions
The Communications & Development Associate will work 10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule, on an initial contract of 6 months. They will report to and work closely with the AAC’s Executive Director. This role is remote and home-office based, although the ideal candidate would be located within a reasonable distance of the Metro Atlanta area, as that is the community we serve.
At the end of the 6-month contract, achievements will be reviewed with the possibility of extension if the approach has been successful and sustainable, as well as more billable hours. As a part-time employee, no benefits are offered with this role.
